My favorite quotes from book:

  • You said something went out of you today? That something was virtue and good deeds.
  • Satan will always have someone in the pews with a contrary spirit or a spirit of resistance.
  • Yes souls were being saved, new people were coming to the church each Sunday, but the devil was madder than ever.
  • I don’t know how I can tell anyone to trust Jesus when I am wavering in trusting him myself.

My Overview

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, the bible tells us. In this short story we get a glimpse into a church where a pastor is eager to lead his congregation in a soul-winning adventure. As we progress through the story, we begin to see & experience the spiritual battles that the members of Haven Bible Baptist Church are facing.

One by one the enemy comes & uses every means possible to stop this project from going forward. As the congregation begins to take blow after blow, will the enemy have success in wearing them down or will they take a stand against him and overcome and see their endeavor a success?

My Thoughts & Comments:

I also found this book, because it is a short story (31 pages), could be used as an outreach tool. The author has constructed a story line that although fictional, helps us to understand the ways the enemy can discourage the Body of Christ from fulfilling The Great Commission. On a personal note to the author, hats off to you, for such a great story! I really enjoyed it & would recommend it to others!

Note: This book review only reflects my opinions and thoughts! My desire in writing these book reviews is to help others find great stories that have not been compromised by using any profanity, detailed sexual scenes or graphic violence. I wanted to share with others what I liked about these books & why I would recommend them. I did not receive this particular book through a book blogging program. If you are looking for a short story that helps you to understand the attack of the enemy & how the church needs to overcome, you will enjoyed Shaking the Gates of Hell! Thank you, Daniel Whyte III, for a great short story!
