Zoe Broussard stands in the shade of the live oak on Main Street and surveys her beloved Louisiana hometown. Wrought-iron galleries overhang the sidewalk lined with brightly colored shops, and the smell of coffee wafts from the brasserie she and her husband Pierce own, to which folks drive all the way from Lafayette for lunch or dinner. It seems like heaven. But it’s about to become hell. A series of threatening, anonymous notes is making her life a misery—because Zoe has a secret so terrible it could leave the business in shambles and tear her marriage apart. Terrified by a stranger who seems to know her, Zoe must confront her past before it confronts her. Can she find the courage to do the right thing? (from the back cover)
My Overview:Have you ever wondered what it would be like to change your name, move to a different town and start all over again? All Zoe Broussard wanted to do was to leave her painful past behind & start a new life.
She finds the perfect town, marries the man of her dreams and opens a Cajun eatery & her life seems to be a happy go lucky song! However, something from Zoe's past is about to be revealed & Zoe knows that it will threaten her perfect little life that she has built! When the threatening notes start showing up, Zoe has to make a decision, what she will do. Will she come clean & risk the beautiful life that she has built with her husband Pierce? Or will she keep quiet & hope that against all odds that this threat will go away?
My Thoughts & Comments: I'm a big fan of Christian fiction suspense, so when I had the opportunity to read & review this book, I jumped at it! I have never read anything by Kathy Herman before and I found it to be a good read! Also this book, had clean words, & no inappropriate scenes! I enjoyed this book! Thank you Kathy Herman for a wonderful read! Even the suspenseful scenes are left up to more of the imagination of the reader! There is a lesson in this story of forgiveness, redemption and healing! We learn that Zoe can't justify what she has done, no matter how battered & bruised her past has made her! There is also a message of God's grace & what happens when it is extended to someone that doesn't deserve it. Thank you Kathy for a wonderful read!
