My Movie Review: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Overview  A return trip to Narnia brings Lucy, Edmund and their cousin Eustace together where they meet up with Prince Caspian to board The Dawn Treader. As they make their way back to Narnia, they run into plenty of trouble with fire breathing dragons, the evil Oppressor and the former white witch. Each will be faced with their own temptations that they must overcome & get victory over.

My Thoughts and Comments: I was highly anticipating this movie to be another great family film. However I was slightly disappointed and felt that something was missing. Yes, something was missing, what was it? A few of the characters from the original Narnia were absent from this film. What I did like about the movie? Temptation was presented to each of the characters in order to test each of them. Lucy is tested when she is faced with the fact that she doesn’t like who she is and given a chance to change it, will she?  Eustace, who plays Lucy & Edmonds cousin, is tested when he sees an opportunity to acquire wealth but is he willing to pay the price that will come with it? Edmund is tempted with an old temptation that lies in the recesses of his mind that he deserves to be a king. However what will it cost him?

This is a lesson to all of us that the enemy comes to tempt us in our weakest moments! He knows exactly what buttons to push according to our desires! I felt the movie had plenty of fire breathing dragons and magical moments but it couldn't compare to the first or the second movie! I'm keeping my eye on this movie series, I see some New Age practices that are starting to show up in these films! I pray that the producers of these films are listening and stay true to the stories of C.S. Lewis!
