My movie review for Soul Surfer: This movie is a faith drama movie. I was interested in this movie and how faith would play into each of the characters lives.

I was disappointed to discover that the real families faith was just briefly covered. Hollywood did an excellent  job in making sure that the gospel message was not presented! : ( If your going to call it an inspirational faith film then don't leave out the faith part. It figures, Hollywood never giving credit where the credit is due!

The main character portrayed in this film is  Bethany Hamilton who is played by Anna Sophia Robb. Anna does an excellent job portraying her character. However, I felt her character was under developed in the movie. I wanted to know more about Bethany and her life as a believer. We really don't learn anything about her life, other than that she is a surfer who faces great challenges when she loses her arm in a shark attack. The surfing scenes were very shaky and I mean literally shaky. I'm not sure if this was just poor filming or something else.

What I did like about the movie: There is a good message in this film about what to do when we are knocked down by the unexpected waves of life! How do we get back up again and learn to move forward facing our fears. How we can work through a tragedy by overcoming adversities in lives. There were some very emotional and touching scenes throughout the movie that will pull on your heart strings. Overall I thought it was a good story. An inspirational film based on a true story about overcoming the adversities of life and learning to move forward with a new perspective.

Overall: I liked the movie but I was disappointed that they didn't take more time to develop the main character Bethany Hamilton!
